This role involves supporting the development and delivery of evidence-based therapeutic interventions to promote positive behavioural changes, resilience, strengthen family relationships and healthier lifestyles among youth. Career and development opportunitiesThe opportunity to work within an innovative, collaborative team environmentEssential Criteria: Degree Qualification in Psychology, Counselling, Family Therapy, Social Work or equivalentAbility to demonstrate a broad theoretical approach to counsellingDemonstrated understanding and knowledge of substance misuse and the impact this has on individuals and family membersA strong commitment to work with young people from an early intervention perspective to address substance misuseExcellent interpersonal, communication and counselling skillsDemonstrated experience in counselling, child informed practice and knowledge of domestic violence, crisis interventionDemonstrated experience in delivering therapeutic group work and educational programsKnowledge of mental health and AOD services in the HunterDesirable:5 years’ experience working professionally as a counsellorCurrent registration with a relevant professional associationThe successful applicant will possess or willingness to obtain the following: NSW Working with Children Check, Criminal history check, Drivers Licence, first aid & CPR certificate and undertake a pre-employment functional medical.
