Toby began with us as a Registered Nurse at our C A Brown home back in 2014 and it wasn’t long before we noticed his great enthusiasm for upholding policies and procedures, and his innate leadership qualities.
Toby was promoted to Deputy Residential Care Manager after a year and his talents were put to great use during the transition of our C A Brown residents to Kilpatrick Court. As you can imagine, this task required a great deal of organisation, consistent attention to our resident’s needs and strict adherence to multiple policies and procedures. Toby and his team ensured a smooth transition which was applauded by his Managers and our Senior Management Team.
Toby, can you describe your leadership style?
“I don’t believe I have one Leadership Style, however I think I would most commonly situational leadership approaches to achieve outcomes. I like to promote an environment where there is an approach of continuous improvement. This requires both staff and care recipients to be comfortable and confident in providing feedback, and for staff to also be comfortable receiving feedback. Good leadership also allows for people to grow from under it, and I take an instructional or teaching approach towards other Anglican Care staff to promote this.
I am also willing to admit that I do not always make the correct decision on the first occasion, however these situations are learning opportunities not only for myself but others. This again leads back to always improving the way in which we provide care and services to those recipients placing their trust in us.”
Toby continues his hard work at Toronto Nursing Home whilst undertaking a Masters of Applied Management (Nursing). Leaders such as Toby are an integral part of our organisation, in fact they are a necessity for the upkeep of our high standards, and they form part of our unique difference.
At Anglican Care leadership matters.
