While it has been more than thirty years since Karen’s time on YTT came to an end, she has continued to forge a music career as a solo recording artist and live performer. She also collaborated and toured with legendary folk group ‘The Seekers’ for two years.
During August Karen joined us to deliver a fabulous Music Therapy for Seniors workshop which studies show has a range of health benefits. Karen performed ten fantastic songs including I Feel Good, Sunny Side of the Street, Edelweiss, Silent Night and Bye Bye Blackbird. The day was immensely popular and most enjoyable for our residents, consumers and staff.
Our Community Care Services General Manager, Chris Giles said music therapy has scientific benefits in improving people‘s health and wellbeing.
“Experience has shown us the vast benefits of music therapy for seniors, particularly those suffering the symptoms of dementia, making it an important part of our holistic approach to lifestyle and wellbeing programs. We are so excited to have Karen join us. She will be sure to get our residents’ endorphins going and have them tapping along to some of their favourite songs.”
But that’s not all. Karen is also helping a lucky few prepare their VERY OWN live performance at our upcoming annual Anglican Care Sensational Seniors concert held in November, with Karen by their side as our headline act.
We can’t wait to enjoy the day and be dazzled by Karen and her new crew.
